Eight years ago…

In early 2017, Refereum set off with an ambitious goal; Redistribute marketing budgets away from advertising corporations and into the pockets of passionate gamers. A new generation on Twitch and Youtube created video game content that drove the industry forward. Content creators were not able to capitalize on the true value of what they provided. We saw this, and started our mission to reward people for sharing video games.

Since then, we’ve worked with everyone from top AAA games like Fortnite and Battlefield, to countless beloved indies. Refereum allowed game developers to usher in a new-age of long tail influencer marketing by rewarding gamers directly. We’ve entertained the millions of gamers that joined our platform with game keys, exclusive content, contests, and more. Refereum has also redistributed millions of dollars away from ad companies and into gamers. To achieve this, we used $RFR tokens on the blockchain to send micro-payments all over the world, instantly and with less transaction fees. We’re proud to have prioritized a global audience of gamers that might not have access to institutional banking methods by using emerging blockchain technology. Our instant payments, global payment reach, affiliate fraud reduction, on-chain ecommerce, and our major technical partnerships has helped pioneer decentralized finance forward for everyone.

Evolution of Refereum through the years

In August 2025, Refereum.com was closed. All platform user data was permanently deleted on August 6th, 2025, in compliance with GDPR, CCPA, and other applicable privacy regulations. The $RFR currency achieved full decentralization, and it is no longer supported, managed, or associated. Refereum will not be liable for any transactions, usage, or support of $RFR on third-party platforms. Please note as mentioned in the past, all services, accounts, and rewards were transitioned to be no longer accessible, and Refereum takes no responsibility for any actions or claims related to the platform after the shutdown.
